The star of Brisbane Broncos has been advised not to play because…
James Roberts’ wife, a famous player for the Brisbane Broncos, has spoken up for her husband after he faced criticism for choosing to play for his club just a few hours after she gave birth.
After a protracted labor, Anna and James welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into the world in the wee hours of Sunday.
After his club praised her husband for being “selfless” by playing in Friday’s Brisbane game against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, barely hours after his wife’s waters broke, Anna responded angrily to those who had criticized her husband on Friday.
‘I want everyone to know how offended I am when people say negatively about my husband,’ she wrote on social media, sharing a picture of Roberts nursing their little son.
‘My Dad Rocks!’ is printed on the baby’s bib, which Roberts is seen holding in one arm while bottle-feeding the child.
‘I knew our baby boy wouldn’t arrive until after the game because I wasn’t in ‘early labour’ when I encouraged James to play that evening.
She wrote, “James is such a loving, caring, and nurturing father who never left my side the whole time through the birth of our very first son.”
When her husband was playing, Anna continued, she had her mother-in-law and family from Sydney by her side, and he returned to her bedside as soon as the game ended.
James played football on Friday night, over 48 hours after he played, and I didn’t give birth until the wee hours of Sunday morning.
James and the amazing group of midwives at the Gold Coast hospital worked together to birth our son! James is a very kind, caring, devoted, and supporting man who would never be so unselfish or selfish as to abandon me to give birth on my own. Written by Anna.
