BLACKBURN ROVERS SIGN FORMER SHEFFIELD UNITED FORWARD WALTERS

Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of former Sheffield United forward Georgia Walters on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Lancashire club this afternoon.

Walters joins Blackburn Rovers after leaving former club Sheffield United at the end of last season. The forward has signed a one-year contract with her new club with the option of a further year. She returns to Blackburn Rovers after previously turning out for the club between 2020 and 2021.

Walters spent 18 months with former club Sheffield United. She scored one goal in 26 appearances for The Blades in the Barclays Women’s Championship. The player has bags of experience in the elite game and she will be hoping to play a leading role for Blackburn Rovers this season.

Blackburn Rovers head coach Simon Parker has now signed four new players this summer. In addition to Walters, the Lancashire club have also signed Chloe Williams, Niamh Murphy and Tyler Toland. The signing of Walters is an important one given the fact that Blackburn Rovers have lost the services of Saffron Jordan this summer while Farah Crompton is out with a long-term injury.

Blackburn Rovers kick-off the new season with a fixture against Birmingham City at Ewood Park on Saturday 26 August.
