RELEASE: NFL Tracker: Rams Expected To Hire Former Eagles Defensive Assistant Sean Desai
DESAI ON BOARD FEB. 25? The Los Angeles Rams are still adding coaches to their revamped team.
The Rams are anticipated to appoint former Eagles defensive assistant Sean Desai to a “senior defensive role,” per a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Sunday.
Desai’s career includes two stints as a defensive coordinator. The first was with the Chicago Bears in 2021; the second was with the Eagles during the previous campaign.
Following the team’s Wild Card loss, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni fired Desai.
CAP RISING FEB 23 An unprecedented hike to the league pay cap is scheduled for the 2024 season, according to an NFL release. Teams will receive an additional $30 million this offseason thanks to the raise in the cap to $255.4 million.
The NFL said in a statement, “An extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season, as well as the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic are the reasons behind the unprecedented $30 million increase per club in this year’s salary cap.”
As a result of the increase, the Rams will have approximately $46 million in total cap space.
In other words, the Rams will have more flexibility to bring back an impact player they otherwise could have lost like Kevin Dotson, or sign an impact free agent like Brian Burns or Danielle Hunter.
