TOFFEES IN £12M SWOOP FOR SOUTHAMPTON’S ADAMS
Everton are looking to bolster their striking options with a £12m bid for Scotland International Che Adams. According to reports by the BBC and elsewhere, the club face competition from Crystal Palace and Bournemouth amongst others
Instant Impact
With a cautious approach being taken to the availability of Dominic Calvert Lewin and Neal Maupays continued
travails, Adams represents a Premier League-proven alternative. His last 4 seasons with the Saints have yielded 25
goals, demonstrating that, whilst not a glamorous option, he can provide a consistent goal threat.
With Youssef Chermiti regarded as one for the future, and another bleak day in front of goal against Fulham, Blues
are starting to get restless regarding goal-scoring. Adams would, if nothing, else offer Premier League quality back-
up. Everton’s persuit of the 27 year old is, however, indicitive of where the club are shopping right now.
Facing Competition
If £12m seems like a bargain for a striker who can score in the Premier League, it has not gone unoticed. Both top-
flight and Championship clubs are sniffing around Adams. TeamTalk report that it was Bournemouth who first
submitted a formal offer, but it did not meet Southampton’s valuation.
Leeds and Wolves also circling a player in the final year of his contract and the Transfer window has less than 2
weeks remaining. The Toffees will have to move fast if their interest is serious and Adams is to become their 5th
signing of the summer.

Everton transfer news as Goncalo Borges deal now on cards – Fabrizio Romano
Everton now want to sign Porto attacker Goncalo Borges towards the final days of the window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist has reported on Thursday 17 August that the young winger could now be on the move with
clubs starting to form an interest.
Premier League rivals West Ham United have also been named in the hunt to get a deal over the line towards the end of the month.
He wrote: “West Ham and Everton are interested in Porto winger Gonçalo Borges as deal for final days of the transfer window.
“2001 born winger, attracting interest as could be on the move.”
This could now mean that a move for Willy Gnonto is now off the cards with other options being explored.
Leeds United have been playing hardball with the latest £25million bid being rejected at Elland Road, and there may
not be the funds to go any higher at Goodison Park [Sky Sports].
Borges would be another option, it seems, and with West Ham also sniffing, it may be smart to make the first move
very quickly, with Sean Dyche wanting reinforcements.
West Ham have a lot of money to spend after selling Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca, and with Lucas Paqueta
potentially joining Manchester City soon, soon they will have more than they know what to do with.
Everton are not in that position, nowhere near it, so they need to be smart and find gems, similar to what they may
have done with Youssef Chermiti, also from Portugal, but this time Sporting CP.
It will be interesting to see how the next week plays out, with Gnonto still potentially on the cards, but a move ready
to go for Borges if it is needed later in the month.
