Alex Mighten, a winger for Nottingham Forest, has signed a loan agreement with KV Kortrijk.

The 21-year-old will play for the Belgian team for the remainder of the current campaign. It is viewed as an opportunity for him to gain

playing time.

Mighten has not made an appearance for the Reds yet this season. He was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday for the first half of the

2022–23 season, however the Owls ended the arrangement in January.

The Nigel Doughty Academy alumnus made 14 appearances for Wednesday and scored two goals, although he was used in a variety of

positions and unable to nail down a regular starting slot. Additionally, he played three times for Forest last year, including one

Carabao Cup substitute appearance against Manchester United. The Garibaldi had already been worn earlier in the season, making it

impossible to agree to another loan switch in the winter transfer window because it would have required representing a third team.

Reds head coach Steve Cooper expressed his frustration when Mighten’s loan at Hillsborough was ended early. He said: “You know I

have a passion for young players and know how important the early stages of when you break into a first-team can be.

“We very much committed to Alex when he was with us, but I quite openly said to you that I wasn’t giving him enough game time –

hence the loan. There was a lot of interest in him in the summer; he was a very sought after lad at those sort of levels. We chose

carefully about where he went.

“Don’t get me wrong, you have to perform your duties as a player, but we carefully considered his next destination and the people he

would be working with, assuming that they would be a good fit for his return and efforts to join our club. To me, a club earns your trust

by committing to it.
