COACH TO REACTS TO CLAIMS £12M ‘GREAT PLAYER’ IS SET TO JOIN TOTTENHAM
According to reports, Luka Vuskovic is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur, and the academy director at Hajduk Split is wishing the young defender “all the best” if that happens.
Had Jose Mourinho or Antonio Conte still been in charge, would Luka Vuskovic have been as eager to sign a contract with Tottenham?
The likes of Juan Foyth, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Jack Clarke went on to achieve great things elsewhere after being shunned by
two coaches who frequently ignored the long-term in favour of securing’short-term’ success. It’s fair to say that neither Mourinho nor
Conte are particularly renowned for giving youth a chance.
Ange Postecoglou, though, is unique. The jubilant cries of “We’ve got our Spurs back” are testament to the rapid impact made by a guy
who is swiftly becoming Tottenham’s most well-liked head coach since Mauricio Pochettino’s heyday, and we’re not just talking about
his all-action, attacking style of game.
Tottenham won Luka Vuskovic over Man City and PSG.
The 16-year-old Vuskovic only had eyes for Tottenham, according to Fabrizio Romano. That is in spite of Bayern Munich, Manchester
City, and Paris Saint-Germain all expressing interest.
It’s almost here; I anticipate Spurs to close the deal this week, says Romano to Caught Offside. “This young, gifted centre back will
definitely play for Spurs.”
Romano doesn’t elaborate on the influence Postecoglou had on Vuskovic’s choice. However, Tottenham are a much better fit for one of
Europe’s most intriguing youngsters than they would have been under Mourinho or Conte due to the Australian’s fantastic track
record for developing young up-and-comers and his embrace of the ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough’ credo.
“I’m happy that our coaches developed a fantastic talent. If Vuskovic joins Tottenham, I wish him the best,” beams Boro Primorac, a
former Arsenal coach who is currently the director of the Hajduk Split academy (24Sata).
“The most important thing is that he plays. He is training with us, which is important for both Hajduk and Croatian football. I don’t
know what is happening with the transfer.
“(But) it’s nice that Croatian players reach big clubs, like (Josko) Gvardiol and (Luka) Modric.”
Spurs will sign one of the most interesting young players in Europe.
In the English city, Vuskovic will reportedly cost Spurs approximately £12 million and join fellow 19-year-old Ashley Phillips. The
Standard, on the other hand, predicts that Tottenham supporters will have to wait to witness the newest goal scorer for Hajduk Split in action.
Vuskovic is most likely going to stay in Croatia till his 18th birthday.
