According to a report, Juventus is thinking about signing an unpopular Spurs player.
According to Corriere della Sera (as relayed by Sport Witness), Juventus are now considering a move for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Hojbjerg had been a nailed-on starter for Tottenham under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte but the Dane has been reduced to an impact-substitute role under Ange Postecoglou so far this season.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano on Monday that the experienced midfielder is studying his options ahead of the January transfer window, with an exit from Spurs said to be on the cards.
Juventus have their eyes on Tottenham’s Hojbejrg
Corriere della Sera have now suggested that Juve could ‘open a door’ for the 28-year-old to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.
The Serie A side are said to be looking for reinforcements in the middle of the park as Massimiliano Allegri is not thought to be happy with the displays of his midfielders and has had to contend with the loss of Paul Pogba.
The report adds that while Nice’s Khephren Thuram is also on the Turin club’s radar, the Tottenham player is better suited to the club as they want him for ‘the essence of his personality’.
There is no doubt that Hojbjerg would generate plenty of interest from around Europe in January if he is put up for sale. I would be surprised if Atletico Madrid do not also reignite their interest in the Dane as they seemed quite keen on signing him during the summer.
