LA Clippers Sign Brother of Celtics Player

Stevens Point's Hauser scores 18, Michigan State falls in OT in Sweet 16

The LA Clippers announced on Friday morning that the team had signed 6’9″ forward Joey Hauser, the brother of Boston Celtics forward Sam Hauser. In a subsequent move, the Clippers waived both Nate Darling and Bryson Williams to keep their training camp roster below the maximum of 20 players. With the Clippers having already finished their preseasons schedule, Hauser will not get an opportunity to play in a game, but he will likely join the team in practice as they finish out their last few days of training camp before the regular season begins. As Ty Lue has repeatedly emphasized, training camp does not end until the Clippers begin their regular season, so the team is using this time to ramp up while also taking a look at players like Hauser. With no available standard or two-way roster spots, it’s likely the Clippers will waive Hauser and have him join their G-League affiliate for the upcoming season. This is what several teams around the league are doing towards the end of training camp, especially those who already know what their 15-man roster will look like on opening night. While the Clippers already have a full roster, any trade for a player like James Harden would likely open a spot or two up, which is also why players like Hauser want to make a strong impression in camp.
