Joining the Addicks last season, the Jamaica international played the entire match and kept a clean sheet against Ruben Selles’ side.

Going over to the 2,500-strong away end after the match to applaud his former supporters, the 30-year-old took to social media to reach out to Royals fans.

20-year-old defender Abbey, who has been wearing the captain’s armband in place of the suspended Andy Yiadom, was called out for particular praise.

The centre-back made some outstanding tackles and prevented the score from looking even worse, and has been a shining light despite the poor form of this season.
