Saints CB Marshon Lattimore joins Derek Carr, Michael Thomas on injury report after loss

The New Orleans Saints sustained injuries to several of their highest profile players on Sunday against the Vikings.

On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints dropped to 5-5 on the 2023 NFL season with a tough road loss at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings. New Orleans was playing from behind essentially from the outset of this one, as Minnesota took a whopping 24-3 lead going into the locker room for halftime. The Saints would come back to make things a bit more interesting down the stretch, but ultimately, New Orleans was unable to get over the hump, falling by a final score of 27-19.

The final score wasn’t the only frustrating part of the afternoon for the Saints. The team also got some difficult updates on the injury front during the game against the Vikings, as the team lost three of its best players throughout the course of the game. Quarterback Derek Carr sustained a shoulder injury as well as a concussion, which necessitated that backup quarterback Jameis Wilson finish the game for New Orleans, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN. Wide receiver Michael Thomas also exited early with a knee injury.

Then, later in the game, star cornerback Marshon Lattimore went down with an injury to his ankle and was forced to leave the contest in the second half. Lattimore is believed to have suffered a sprain to his ankle, with an MRI scheduled for Monday to determine the extent of the injury, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

The Saints now enter a much-needed bye week before they retake the field on November 26 against the Atlanta Falcons on the road, with position within the NFC South on the line.
