OFFICIAL | LEICESTER SIGN STEPHY MAVIDIDI FROM MONTPELLIER
Leicester have tonight unveiled the signing of forward Stephy Mavidid from Ligue 1 side Montpellier, with the former Arsenal youth graduate returning to English football five years after initially leaving the Gunners for Juventus.
The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, making the move back across the Channel after three years with La Paillade during which he made just under a century of appearances and scored 21 goals across all competitions.
He notably found the net 8 and 9 times respectively in his first two campaigns, before finding himself overshadowed by Chelsea target Elye Wahi’s goalscoring exploits this past season.
Earlier reports have indicated that the Championship side has spent €7.5m to bring in Mavididi, with Montpellier set to receive a 10% cut of his future transfer fee.
Although he did not make a senior appearance in his time at Arsenal, Mavididi does have experience in both the Championship and League One, having spent time on loan at Charlton Athletic and Preston North End.
