On Saturday, Zach Mitchell won in his Colchester United debut. At the JobServe Community Stadium, the 18-year-old defender

impressed with a skillful performance as he led the U’s to a 2-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers. He said on Col U TV after the game:

“I’m definitely thrilled to make my first start. Excellent and extremely friendly fans were present. We gave a really strong performance,

and hopefully that will continue.

Ben Garner, the manager of Colchester, praised Mitchell highly. Zach Mitchell’s debut, in his opinion, was the best I’ve ever witnessed

at a club, he said. He was outstanding in my opinion. We knew what we were getting in terms of character because I previously knew

Zach and gave him his Charlton debut last season. Zach has improved the team. He is everything I look for in a player, both in terms of

courage and intensity: he is as brave as a lion both with and without the ball.

In League Two, Jack Payne came on as a 67th-minute substitute for MK Dons, who drew 1-1 with Notts County at home in a top-of-

the-table match, while Aaron Henry was not used in Crawley.

Ollie Hobden, a defender in the U21s, played the entire game for Chatham Town, who lost to Cray Wanderers 5-1 in the Isthmian

League Premier Division. The international break prevented Diallang Jaiyesimi’s St Johnstone from playing. The 25-year-old wide

receiver could make his Premier League debut this Saturday against Rangers, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports (12:30 p.m. BST).
