Rangers told to complete ‘fantastic’ deal as cheque-book view emerges.
Rangers should consider completing a deal to sign Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, according to Craig Moore.
Speaking to The Go Radio Football Show on Tuesday (November 14, via Football Scotland), the pundit said Gers should prepare their checkbook to sign the 28-year-old striker.
He added that the Scotland international is “as good as any” other domestic striker and can help the Light Blues compete for titles on a regular basis.
If I were the Rangers, I would have my checkbook ready,” Moore said.
“I think he will be a great addition to the Rangers team.
“I think to win the trophies that Rangers want to win, you need strikers who can score goals.
Domestically, he is as good as anyone.
He has matured a lot over the past two seasons.
This would be an extremely interesting move for Rangers to try and make happen as Shankland has proven himself to be one of the best forwards in the Scottish Premiership.
He’s scored 10 goals and laid on two assists in 19 appearances for Hearts so far this season, with two of those strikes coming against the Gers.
The Scotsman has registered 38 goals and six assists in 66 games for the Jambos and he is the type of leader Philippe Clement would be looking to add to his side after captaining the Edinburgh club.
They would be likely to want a reasonable fee to allow their captain to leave, though, so any deal would have to make financial sense for the Light Blues.
But it certainly would be a transfer that’s worth looking into as he would add something different to the attacking options already at Ibrox.

Aberdeen star promises Dons will be “ready” to welcome Rangers
Aberdeen star Graeme Shinnie has promised that the Dons will be “ready” to face Rangers in the Scottish Premiership after the international break.
The Dons skipper, 32, might’ve wound up at Rangers if things went differently a few years ago but the former Derby midfielder is back at Pittodrie.
And speaking after the Scottish Premiership club’s 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Celtic – which Kris Boyd has had plenty to say about – the Aberdeen skipper was in defiant mood.
Claiming that Aberdeen will be “ready” for the visit of resurgent Rangers, Graeme Shinnie has insisted the Ibrox side will find themselves in a bigger fight than their Old Firm rivals.
“We went into the game in good form,” said Shinnie. “We had won at Motherwell, get through to a cup final and done well over in PAOK. So three positive performances.
“But, yeah, Celtic was a sore one to take. We’ll use the international break now to have a bit of rest, spend a bit of time with family, recharge the batteries and come back and be ready to go again against Rangers.”
Graeme Shinnie makes Aberdeen Rangers promise
Much has been made about Aberdeen’s greater defiance in the face of the blue side of Glasgow but Ibrox manager Phillipe Clement is clear that there can be no excuses at Rangers.
Yes, Rangers might face a club and support more enthusiastic – to put it lightly – when they come into town but it’s just one of the many hurdles the Ibrox side has to overcome to be successful.
There can be no more bleating about Aberdeen’s clear inspiration against Rangers and after an international breather the Scottish Premiership clash is an enticing one.
Rangers and Aberdeen – who will contest the League Cup Final in December – is never a game for the faint hearted and perhaps we’ll see just how much Philippe Clement’s squad has grown.
