Prior to Sunderland’s arrival, Jon Dahl Tomasson wants to see Blackburn exhibit a vicious streak.
Observations were made by Jon Dahl Tomasson following Blackburn’s 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough.
Following their 2-1 victory against Championship underdog Middlesbrough, Jon Dahl Tomasson had one major criticism for his team before they host Sunderland on Wednesday night. Both teams enter the midweek games with victory from the weekend, which bodes well for an exciting matchup.
After a four-match undefeated streak that has put early season worries to rest, Tony Mowbray takes his Black Cats to Ewood Park, his former haunt, knowing that a victory might move the Wearsiders up to fourth in the standings. Sunderland hasn’t lost in more over a month thanks to their 3-1 victory over QPR on Saturday, but they are aware that Rovers will be a difficult opponent.
Tomasson, a former striker for AC Milan, helped his team defeat Boro 2-1 with two goals from Sammie Szmodics, one either side of halftime, which were eventually enough to secure the victory and the three points. The Boro attacker appeared to be way offside, but the Rovers boss thought his team should have been much up when Matt Crooks scored.
When we looked at Middlesbrough, we realized it would be a really challenging game. It is a terrific win, Tomasson remarked. “It was awesome to see how many opportunities we generated. We ought to have been leading 3-0 at the break. The fact that we failed to score those goals is disheartening. Then we scored some fantastic but really difficult goals.
“They scored a goal back, and those are challenging times. In such times, our supporters supported us. It was awesome to see the legends at the stadium and watch us triumph in our 5,000th league game. An outstanding performance was given.
By the way, the linesman and referee will be dissatisfied with crucial times in the game when they watch this again. Offside caused [the goal]. We all make mistakes, and I believe the referee and the linesman will be dissatisfied upon reflection. That’s a component of football. Errors happen, but he was completely by himself and three meters from the goal.
