Breaking News: Matt Tifft, a former NASCAR racer, was viciously beaten at Toledo Speedway

During the ASA STARS National Super Late Model race at the Toledo Speedway, Matt Tifft, a former NASCAR driver, was viciously attacked. Following an on-track incident in which VanMeter spun Tifft out, fellow driver Billy VanMeter and his crew member Bryan Glaze got into a confrontation. Bryan Glaze tackled Tifft to the ground and kicked him in the face, causing a black eye and bleeding nose as a result of the intense altercation. The driver may take legal action as a result of the Saturday incident.

After the race, Tifft went over to VanMeter in his pit area with the intention of addressing him about the incident in which his car spun. This is when the fight started. What was supposed to be a verbal altercation turned violent very soon. After being aggressively tackled and kicked while on the ground, Tifft took to social media platform X to denounce the incident, calling it “chickens***” and expressing his dislike of such behaviour in sports.

To start with, I’m fine. Tifft wrote, “It’s just a black eye; nothing broken.” “But what’s a chickens*** move really is getting thrown on the ground and then somebody coming up and kicking someone while they’re on the ground and that’s about as low as it gets.” Tifft first said no to accusations made at the track. He is now second-guessing his choice, though, since he worries about the safety of the series’ younger competitors. He talked about how crucial it is to keep the area safe, particularly for the 13 to 15-year-olds who attend the races.

“At the track, they asked me if I wanted to press charges. I initially said no but looking back on it, I don’t think I would press charges for myself,” Tifft explained. “But what I don’t like is the fact that that series of Late Model racing, a lot of 13, 14, 15-year-old kids come up through there. And we don’t need somebody like that in the pit area who’s dangerous and obviously something’s wrong with him.”

The attack’s perpetrator, Bryan Glaze, apologised to the public on Facebook. His regretful words admitted that what he had done was wrong and clarified that he had reacted out of a protective feeling for his brother Billy VanMeter. “Since I’m sure everyone has seen the video by now, let me start by apologising to Matt Tifft. I wish I could take back the unacceptable way I behaved.
