BREAKING NEWS : the Saints Need’s Three [3] More Draft Picks due to…

Three additional draft picks have been acquired by the Saints for this season. The NFL has revealed the compensatory picks for the draft, which will give New Orleans three more selections in the fifth round. These resulted from the deaths of Marcus Davenport (Vikings), David Onyemata (Falcons), and Kaden Elliss (Falcons). With nine picks available, the team can now package or use them.

It’s crucial to keep in mind that these begin in Round 3 and occur at the end of the round. Ultimately, the 49ers and Rams gained five more selections, for a total of nine compensatory picks. The Saints have only received 17 compensatory picks since 1994, and New Orleans was one of the fourteen clubs who received picks. That and the Jets are tied for the second-lowest in the league. The Browns (13) are the only team below.

A method that takes into account playing time, postseason honors, and compensation determines compensatory free agents. The NFL Management Council created the formula. This method does not apply to every free agent that is signed by a team or loses. In the previous free agent signing season, clubs who experience a net loss of CFAs are entitled to a commensurate number of compensating selections. Furthermore, depending on the value of the CFAs lost compared to the value of the CFAs obtained, a club that had no net loss and lost the same number of CFAs as it earned can be qualified for a selection at the conclusion of round seven. In a single year, no club is allowed to earn more than four compensatory selections. Should a If a club is eligible for more than four compensatory picks, the club will receive the four highest remaining selections after each CFA lost is offset by a CFA acquired of equal or greater value.
