we lost to Lazio in the UEFA Champions League, Brendan Rodgers has been talking about Luis Palma.

The winger from Honduras, who was acquired from Aris Thessaloniki at the end of August, has made a name for himself recently. The previous weekend, Palma scored a critical goal against Motherwell and then appeared to have scored an even more significant goal against Lazio until VAR intervened.Las palabras de Luis Palma tras su debut con Celtic - Futbol Centro America

The attacker has sometimes flashed some promise, but he still has a lot to do to measure up to former Hoops winger Jota. Although he joined the team as the logical left-wing successor for the Portuguese superstar, he hasn’t played as much as fans may have anticipated.

Palma has already appeared in six Celtic games, however he has only made one start, away to Feyenoord. He has taken the field off the bench in three additional contests, including Wednesday’s matchup with the Italians.

“He made a mistake with the goal. The baseball strikes Daizen. If it hadn’t touched him, it would have carried on to Luis. He does an outstanding job at finishing. But I anticipate continued improvement from him.

“We have to look at them both and at them all till that time. We’re hoping they’ll be able to help us out well. I only believe that [Luis] will continue to improve as a result of the experiences, requirements, and expectations of playing for a team like this.

At Motherwell, he scored the game’s first goal but missed a golden opportunity to set up James Forrest five minutes earlier.

There is a growing suspicion that he could be a touch one-dimensional despite those positive moments. He may still have a lot of room to grow, but he seems to want to cut inside onto his right foot almost constantly at this early stage.

That’s fantastic when it works, like it did against Lazio and Motherwell, but it will becoming extremely simple to counter. Jota was so dangerous because he might always choose a different course.

These are just a few of my initial impressions of Palma. By no means am I dismissing him, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he still has something more to offer in terms of strategy.
