After Hull’s draw, Coventry City’s manager offers an injury update for Ben Sheaf.
As Sky Blues manager Mark Robins explains Ben Sheaf’s absence against Hull, Coventry City’s injury news is provided by CoventryLive.
Ben Sheaf, a crucial midfielder for Coventry City, is expected to miss at least a few weeks of action due to a groin issue he sustained during practice.
The Sky Blues player, 25, was forced to miss Friday night’s 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium after pulling up at Ryton on Thursday when the team was preparing for Hull.
Josh Eccles and captain Liam Kelly stepped in for him while he was away, and Kelly appears to be in line for a run in the lineup while Sheaf heals.
Mark Robins said, “He’s strained his groin,” when asked what the player had done. He will be sidelined for an unkown amount of time because it’s an adductor, a muscle in the inside thigh. I would have assumed that would take at least a few weeks.
He commented on Kelly’s performance in his first Championship game of the year, saying, “I felt he performed quite well. To be honest, he was sometimes all over the place, but because he was higher up the field, he nearly stole one as they were attempting to play out. We entered again, and after the referee blew the whistle for a foul, we entered once more before slipping.
The players said the pitch was really firm and greasy, which means it was a little bit slippy, so the footwear has to be right because that was an opportunity to score and unfortunately we just didn’t take that second one and that cost us because of the weight of the ball that they had.”
Joel Latibeaudiere’s first-half header from a corner gave City the lead, but three minutes from time, Aaron Connolly’s flicked header into the far corner gave the opposition the lead.
