Done deal: Florida State have axe another deal of the 22-years-old utility QB from…

Former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is joining Florida State for the 2024 season. He passed for 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns in his lone season with the Beavers after transferring from Clemson. Uiagalelei is 30-10 in his college career. “I’m excited to have DJ join the Nole Family,” head coach Mike Norvell said in a statement Tuesday. “He is a proven winner, and his record as a starting quarterback is impressive. He has showcased incredible leadership on the field, and how he treats people off the field is remarkable. DJ is an extremely hard worker who is excited to continue to develop in this system and be around the great playmakers we have here. DJ adds a great deal of experience, talent and play-making ability into a quarterback room that we are extremely excited about as we enter 2024. He has great size and ability, is incredibly accurate pushing the ball down the field and is one of the top quarterbacks in the country in big-play percentage. I am thrilled to be adding this talented football player, dedicated student and wonderful person into our Nole Family.”

Uiagalelei had been deciding whether to choose a third school or enter the 2024 NFL Draft. His decision gives Florida State experience at the position after losing Jordan Travis. Travis, who ended the season injured, is out of eligibility. Backup Tate Rodemaker entered the transfer portal. True freshman Brock Glenn started the final two games of the season for Florida State — the ACC Championship against Louisville and a 63-3 blowout loss to Georgia last week in the Orange Bowl. Uiagalelei had a career year at Oregon State in 2023 with an 8-4 regular season. He added 219 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

Florida State has found its quarterback for the 2024 season. After announcing his pledge to the Seminoles on the first day of the new year, the program officially added Oregon State transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei into the fold on Tuesday morning.

The former five-star prospect brings an abundance of talent and experience into his final season of eligibility after spending his college career with the Beavers as well as Clemson. Uiagalelei will be moving back to familiar territory in the ACC.

With veteran quarterback Tate Rodemaker choosing to transfer, the Seminoles knew they needed a signal-caller to bridge the gap between Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek. They were able to find just that in Uiagalelei, who will be able to help the program win in the short term while Glenn and Kromenhoek grow.

The addition has head coach Mike Norvell excited for what’s to come. He hasn’t worked with very many quarterbacks who have the physical characteristics of the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Uiagalelei.

“I’m excited to have DJ join the Nole Family. He is a proven winner, and his record as a starting quarterback is impressive. He has showcased incredible leadership on the field, and how he treats people off the field is remarkable,” Norvell said in a release. “DJ is an extremely hard worker who is excited to continue to develop in this system and be around the great playmakers we have here.

Uiagalelei is coming off a career year where he threw for 2,638 yards on 8.4 yards per attempt while tossing 21 touchdowns to seven interceptions.

During his college career, he’s completed 695/1176 passes for 8,319 yards with 57 touchdowns to 24 interceptions. Uiagalelei has also rushed 343 times for 1,132 yards with 21 more scores on the ground.
