DONE DEAL: Roos have finalised a deal that sees a young defender depart Punt Road…

AFL trade news: Richmond completes a fringe tall swap with North Melbourne.

North Melbourne Kangaroos add further defensive depth with deal for Richmond Tigers tall Bigoa Nyuon

Bigoa Nyuon, a fringe tall, was dealt by Richmond to North Melbourne in return for a fourth-round draft pick this year.

The Roos are looking to add additional height to their roster after the losses of Todd Goldstein and Ben McKay, two important position free agents, who left for Essendon last week. Nyuon has been closely connected to Arden Street.

Through delisted free agency, the Kangaroos were able to get talented Glenelg player and former Sydney defender Toby Pink last Friday. Now, they are attempting to sign Nyuon from Punt Road.

Nyuon was able to use last week’s free agency period; however, if the Roos had been able to get a free agent themselves, a transfer to North Melbourne would have probably affected their choice of Pick 3 for free agency compensation.

The Roos have now acquired Nyuon in exchange for Pick 65.

In a club release, North Melbourne list manager Rawlings stated, “Biggie is an athletic key defender who stood out to us with his ability to take intercept marks and his versatility to play as ruck.”

He is looking for a chance to play senior football since the Tigers have a few tall alternatives in the ruck and down back.

“We look forward to welcoming him into the club and seeing his attributes further develop here.”

To acquire the 22-year-old, the Roos trade that fourth-round pick—originally chosen by Hawthorn and traded to North Melbourne from Fremantle last year—to North Melbourne.

Nyuon, who stands 197 cm tall, is capable of playing both defense and support ruckman roles. His only senior game experience is one.

In his Round 9 debut against the Hawks the previous year, he recorded two tackles and six disposals.

With the additional selections, the Tigers now own picks 29, 50, 65, and 68 in the National Draft that takes place next month.
