A Jersey Flegg utility back for the Wests Tigers, Kienan Power-Tempest, has left the club, deciding to move to a Queensland club.

Power-Tempest is confirmed to be joining the QLD Cup side, the Souths Logan Magpies, for the upcoming season after two seasons in the Wests Tigers development system.

A former Australian Schoolboy representative, the 21-year-old is a skilled quick flyer and has featured in the centres and on the wing for the Tigers partnering alongside NRL player Josh Feledy.

He has also appeared for the Camden Rams, scoring multiple four-pointers in their Grand Final to Thirlmere, however, they would, unfortunately, lose the match.

Both players will join Wests Tigers on Development contracts next season, where they will train full-time with the NRL squad but will not be eligible to play first-grade until after Round 16.

Simpkin will join the NRL squad in 2021 while Hoffman will join the side in 2022.

Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager David Warwick welcomed the pair to the club.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, we’re very pleased to have Jake and Reece on board from next year and we’d like to welcome them to the club,” Warwick said.

“Besides their strong physical attributes for their age, Jake and Reece have a great knowledge of the game and composure which stands out across their age group.

“The privilege for them now is to have that year of training full-time and continue to work on their body to be ready for the NRL and play at the highest level.

“Having them come as Development Players really puts the club and them in a good place with their progress and we’re excited to watch them take the next steps of their careers at Wests Tigers.”

A Southern Suburbs Tigers junior, Simpkin has already achieved a number of junior representative honours for Queensland with selection in the U/16’s side in 2017, as well in the Queensland U/18’s side that defeated New South Wales earlier this year.

Hoffman was also part of the winning Maroons side after starring at centre, and previously helped Wynnum-Manly to the Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup Grand Final earlier in the year alongside Simpkin.

Both players will join the club in November for the start of 2020 pre-season training.
