Tottenham suffer transfer blow as Premier League star ‘refuses’ to join them

The Tottenham target has no interest in joining the club.

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has reportedly refused to join Tottenham this summer despite the Cottagers trying to force

through the deal.

Spurs are in need of another centre-back this summer and have identified Adarabioyo as a cheaper alternative

to Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, who is valued at £60m.

But according to FootMercato, Adarabioyo has no interest in a move to north London. The French publication claim he has his heart

set on joining Monaco instead.

Adarabioyo has already agreed personal terms in principle with the Ligue 1 side as they look to compensate for the loss of Axel Disasi,

who recently joined Chelsea for £38.5m. Monaco are negotiating the fee for the player with Fulham and have submitted an initial

£4.2m bid to get the ball rolling.

Monaco recently wrapped up the signing of Mohammed Salisu from Southampton at centre-back but want to add one more player to

their squad in the position. Adarabioyo joined Fulham from Manchester City in 2020 after loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and

Blackburn Rovers.

The 25-year-old struggled to break into the first team at the Etihad but was instantly a regular fixture at Craven Cottage. In his maiden

campaign for the club, he made 33 Premier League appearances and flourished under the new system.

However, Fulham would be relegated from England’s top flight at the end of the season. Adarabioyo stayed with the club as they

dropped down into the Championship and continued to impress in the white and black.

Stellar performances earned him a place in the Championship Team of the Season while Fulham won the league. A mixture of new

arrivals and a dip in form meant Adarabioyo got far less game time last season, making just 29 appearances in all competitions – 25 of

those coming in the Premier League.

As a result, he is looking for a new challenge and believes Monaco is the right place to ply his trade. Adarabioyo is expected to join the

French side alongside Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria and Santos prospect Deivid Washington in the coming days.

Spurs, meanwhile, are expected to get one deal over the line for a new defender with Micky van de Ven set to join in a £43m transfer

from Wolfsburg after being spotted in the stands for their 5-1 pre-season victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday.
