Leicester City are one of the clubs linked with an interest in highly-rated Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-

Bellis this summer.

It has been reported that the 21-year-old is a loan target for Championship clubs, including City along with fellow

relegated sides Leeds United and Southampton. It is also added that Man City could be open to a permanent transfer

at the right price.

Harwood-Bellis spent last season on loan with Burnley and played a key part in helping the Clarets to win promotion

back to the Premier League as Championship Champions. He was also part of the England U21 team who won the

European Championships this summer.

The defender has played eight times for Man City’s first team. One of those appearances came back in 2019 when he

played alongside fellow academy graduate Eric Garcia in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win against Preston North End.

And his performance, alongside Garcia, clearly impressed Guardiola, who delivered a glowing verdict on the duo.

Goals from Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and an own goal gave Man City a comfortable victory.

“We made a good solid performance against a team third in the Championship, we played really good,” Guardiola

told Sky Sports post-match. “I am pleased a lot with Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis at the back, they helped us a lot.

“They combined, they suit each other perfectly and they have played in the academy every weekend. They are

exceptional human beings with a good mentality. I am very pleased.”

Leicester could have an advantage in any transfer race for the Man City man, given the relationship between Enzo

Maresca and Guardiola. The City boss was assistant manager at the club last season as they won the treble.

City have already made the most of the relationship, having completed the loan signing of Callum Doyle. The

defender has started all three of City’s games so far this season and has impressed with his performances.
