Charlton Athletic Warded Off Interest From Germany For Star Attacker
According to the South London Press, Charlton Athletic resisted interest in teenage sensation Miles Leaburn from a
number of Championship clubs as well as a squad in Germany.
Leaburn broke through the Charlton ranks last season and managed an impressive 13 goals in all competitions in his
debut campaign, including 12 in League One despite the team’s struggles on the pitch.
The 19-year-old’s talent and impressive start to life in professional football garnered interest in his signature from
clubs in England’s second tier as well as in Germany but the youngster will stay put at the Valley until at least
January since the transfer window closed last Friday.
Three bids were launced by an unnamed German club but all three were rejected by Charlton Athletic as the
Championship-hopefuls were adamant to hold onto Leaburn.
Bids for Dobson and Blackett-Taylor
The SLP also revealed that the newly-promoted League Two outfit AFC Wrexham made an offer for captain George
Dobson while Derby County submitted a bid for winger Corey Blackett-Taylor but both were rebuffed by the Addicks.
Dobson and Blackett-Taylor have entered into the final year of their respective contracts, meaning Charlton have
risked the duo walking away for free next summer should they refuse to sign new deals.
Leaburn picked up an injury in pre-season and so has been eased back into the starting lineup over the past week,
even playing just 45 minutes against Crawley Town during a 4-3 defeat in the EFL Trophy. Leaburn scored a goal and
registered an assist during his cameo before being replaced at half-time by Slobodan Tedic.

Keeping hold of Leaburn was vital for the Addicks’ hopes of turning their season around and making a push for
promotion given the talent that the forward possesses.
It was also important to keep hold of both Dobson and Blackett-Taylor but Charlton Athletic now risk losing both
men for free next summer which could come back to bite them.
