“I’ve played here before with Coventry and I remember the song when the players walk out, it’s amazing, thrilling.”

In a statement, the Sky Blues said: “Coventry City can confirm that Gustavo Hamer has joined Sheffield United.

“The move follows the agreement of an undisclosed fee on Friday between the two clubs, after Gus informed the Club this week of his desire to join Sheffield United and with Gus entering the final year of his contract with Coventry City.

“Gus joined the Sky Blues in 2020 from PEC Zwolle. The popular midfielder would go on to make a total of 132 appearances for the Club, scoring 19 goals – including in the run to the Championship Play-Offs last year where he was instrumental, netting the winner in the Semi-Final and scoring in the Final too.

“Everyone at Coventry City would like to wish Gus the best of luck for the future, and we thank him for the huge contribution he has made to the Club during his time with us.”
