Darren Moore’s Terriers appeared to be headed for a losing start, but the center-back came up big in the closing seconds to save a point for his team.

Yasin Ayari’s very fortunate goal appeared to be enough to settle the game in the hosts’ favor but Michal Helik’s injury time equalizer surprised Coventry City, giving Darren Moore a spectacular start to life as Terriers manager.

In his first game in charge of Huddersfield Town, Moore chose a 3-5-2 formation and made four changes to the starting lineup, two of which were forced: Josh Ruffels and David Kasumu were both forced to sit out due to injuries sustained in midweek’s match against Stoke City, and Sorba Thomas and Kian Harratt were both placed on the bench.

Nicholls, Lee made a superb fingertip save, but Yasin Ayari’s rebound allowed the goal to be scored. He did a good job all night and again made a great save late. 8

Matty Pearson: As he confronted Ellis Simms and lost in the process of setting up Coventry’s opening goal, Pearson appeared to yell Michal Helik away from the ball. His first-half forward balls were aimless. After the break, better. 6

Michal Helik – Headed away everything that came his way and showed good composure on the ball, for the most part – most especially in scoring the late, late equaliser. 8

Yuta Nakayama – Played on the left of the back three and did his job well. Got forward plenty on the overlap after the break. 7

Ben Jackson – Could perhaps have done more to stop Simms getting his shot off as Coventry took the lead. 5

Ben Wiles – Anonymous in the first half as Town were outmuscled by the Coventry midfield as they tried to play out from the back. Was involved in some of Town’s more promising moves in among some poor touches. 5

Jonathan Hogg – Made himself available in deep-lying positions as Town started to build the play more after the break. Covered well for Nakayama’s forward runs. 6

Jack Rudoni – Like the rest of the Town midfield, had a frustrating time in the first half. Got into the game more after the break by drifting wide, but finishing and end product were poor. 5

Jaheim Headley – Defensively sound but ended up facing his own goal more than he would ideally like. Sacrificed to get Sorba Thomas on the pitch just as he was starting to show a bit more. 5

Delano Burgzorg – Barely got a kick in the first half as Town struggled to get upfield. Scarcely more involved after the break bar one shot that forced a Ben Wilson save. 4

Josh Koroma – Had Town’s only shot of the opening 45 minutes but waited too long to pull the trigger, allowing a defender to come across and block. Better movement after the break. 4
