Liverpool will not play in the Champions League next season. The Reds, who have even contested two finals in recent years, will not be in the top continental competition, which has caused a deep disappointment for Mohamed Salah, one of the stars of the team.

The Egyptian player showed his frustration with a post on his personal Twitter account, in which he explained how he felt. “I am totally devastated. There is absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we have failed,” begins the text he wrote on Twitter.

“We are Liverpool and qualifying for the competition is the minimum. I’m sorry, but it’s too early for an optimistic post. We have let you down and we have let ourselves down,” continued Salah.

To keep their chances of qualifying for the Champions League, Liverpool needed Manchester United to lose to Chelsea on Thursday, but Erik ten Hag‘s side secured the win that ensures their presence in the Champions League.

It is the first time the Reds have failed to qualify for the tournament since 2017.
