Aston Villa ‘on the verge’ of transfer after Nassef Sawiris talks

Hull City are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal for Aston Villa ace Jaden Philogene.

That’s according to our sister title HullLive, who claim that a deal could be struck this week. Philogene was left out of Villa’s match day

squad in their 4-0 win over Everton at Villa Park.

The 21-year-old’s future is yet to be decided by Unai Emery following his return from Cardiff City where he spent last season on loan.

The highly-rated winger impressed during his short cameo at Newcastle, as Villa were defeated 5-1.

HullLive adds that Philogene has been a long-term target for former Derby County boss Liam Rosenior. The club has been tracking the

winger “all summer” and conversations are said to have been “ongoing throughout”.

Hull owner Acun Ilicali is understood to have been personally involved in the deal, which is believed to be a permanent move for the

winger. The report adds that a deal is “on the verge of being agreed upon” following positive discussions with Villa owner Nassef Sawiris.

It is understood that a breakthrough in talks happened last week. From the player’s side, it is believed he is keen on joining a club that

are targeting promotion.

Monday’s ABC Sevilla states there’s still ‘a huge question mark’ over the left-back’s future.

It’s claimed Aston Villa’s approach for the 31-year-old has earned a ‘declaration of non grato’ [unwelcome or unacceptable] at the La Liga side.

The Premier League side have a firm desire to sign him but aren’t willing to dig deep into their pockets to secure his services.

This is echoed by Diario de Sevilla, who state the bids tabled by Unai Emery’s side haven’t pleased the Europa League winners.

Diario de Sevilla add there’s unlikely to be any movements until the English club decide to meet the Spanish side’s demands.

 

El Chiringuito journalist Gonzalo Tortosa claims Sevilla want a minimum of €15m for the defender, which the Villans are refusing to meet. Therefore, the ‘negotiations [are] broken’ between Aston Villa and the Andalusian club for the South American.

Those negotiations could be salvaged in the coming days.
