Kaoru Mitoma decides on Brighton’s future while Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United consider a transfer
Brighton’s Premier League opponents are interested in Kaoru Mitoma, but the Seagulls are doing everything they can to retain the Japan international at the club during an excellent run of form.
Kaoru Mitoma’s new deal with Brighton is almost finalized, which will help the club fend off interest from Premier League rivals in moving him.
Mitoma has established himself as an important member of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad despite only having a contract in place till June 2025. The 26-year-old midfielder joined Brighton from Kawasaki Frontale for under £2.7 million in 2021 and has since made 50 appearances for the club, contributing 13 goals and 11 assists.
Brighton are shrewd negotiators in the transfer market, and the team is anxious to stop Mitoma from departing for a little amount. The Japanese international is content where he is, according to TalkSPORT, and will shortly agree to a new five-year contract with the Seagulls.
In seven games this season, Mitoma has already scored three goals and provided three assists, attracting the interest of Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal. The previous year, United conducted a scouting operation on him, but they are aware that Brighton will be a tough negotiator.
In the summer, Brighton added Moises Caicedo to their stellar roster of sales by selling him to Chelsea for a staggering £115 million. Alexis MacAllister was acquired by Liverpool for £45 million over the summer, Ben White was acquired by Arsenal for £50 million in July 2021, and Marc Cucurella was acquired by the Blues for £60 million in August 2022.
The Seagulls frequently sell to Premier League teams; notable sales include Robert Sanchez (Chelsea, £25 million), Yves Bissouma (Tottenham, £25 million), and Leandro Trossard (Arsenal, £27 million).
Former professional poker player and current owner of Brighton, Tony Bloom, has been transparent about the team’s policy on player trade. In May 2021, Bloom told The Athletic that he was excited with White, Sanchez, and Tariq Lamptey’s attention from large teams. “The more big clubs there are interested in our players, the more we’re doing right, so I’m delighted with that,” Bloom said.
“We are cognizant of the fact that some of our finest players won’t remain with us indefinitely. When the proper opportunity arises—and it must be the right opportunity—and they decide to leave, they will.
To his staff in March, De Zerbi discussed the significance of Mitoma. Because he is one of the most valuable players when going one-on-one in the last 25 meters, Mitoma is a vital member of the squad for his side, the coach claimed.
“For him, this is his first season in the Premier League; it’s important for us, but it’s also important for him to play another season with us,” the coach said. We have three more months to play and accomplish our goals, therefore we don’t have time to talk about the transfer market at this time.
