Report: Leeds now make offer for player in position Daniel Farke wants as a priority
Leeds United have launched an offer for an unnamed striker.
That is according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, who says a bid is now in for a new number nine which is needed as a matter of priority.
Following the signing of Joe Rodon at centre-back last week, a new striker is top of Leeds‘ wanted list before the end of the window
Leeds’ struggles in attack were only emphasised at the weekend as Daniel Farke’s side were able to muster just one shot on target in a 1-0 defeat at Birmingham City.
The Whites looked extremely lightweight in the final third at St. Andrews and while Georginio Rutter did return from injury off the bench, the ongoing injury problems of Patrick Bamford mean a top new striker is desperately needed
Leeds make offer for unnamed striker, says Smyth
At this stage the identity of the player in question remains uncertain but Farke has already spoken in interviews of striker being a position that needs strengthening.
Swansea City’s Joel Piroe is among the names to have been linked with a move to Elland Road this summer, but at £15 million (Mail+), he won’t come cheap.
Aston Villa’s Cameron Archer and Everton’s Tom Cannon were also mentioned as possible targets over the weekend, both of whom enjoyed excellent Championship loan spells last season.
As per the Athletic, Villa are open to letting Archer leave in the next few weeks, though like Piroe, he is likely to cost a substantial amount.
Cannon, meanwhile, could leave Everton on loan or permanently before the end of the window, providing they are able to sign a new striker themselves.
