Sky Bet League One: Peterborough United 1 Leyton Orient 1
At Peterborough United, Leyton Orient won a piece of the League One victory.
Posh took the lead against his former team thanks to Hector Kyprianou, but Richie Wellens’ team responded through Omar Beckles.
O’s named an unchanged starting line-up from their win at leaders Exeter City a week earlier, while Ed Turns and Aaron Drinan were
included on the bench.
And the visitors enjoyed some early pressure, as Tom James and Jordan Graham combined well on the right, before Idris El Mizouni
denied Kwame Poku with a fine covering tackle.
Peter Kioso was booked for fouling Theo Archibald on seven minutes while Beckles produced a vital block to deny the hosts an almost
certain goal soon after.
Archibald then sent an ambitious effort well wide, before Kyprianou opened the scoring for Posh on 21 minutes.
James sent a cross just over the head of Joe Pigott as O’s sought a response, then thwarted Ephron Mason-Clark at the other end as he
looked to profit at the far post.
On the 34th minute, Graham’s cross hit Beckles at the far post for the game-tying goal. Kioso had just broken through for the home
team when Sol Brynn made a fine save from him.
Darren Pratley was shown a yellow card late in the first half as it remained all square at the break.
And Brandon Cooper produced some excellent defending to deny Joel Randall a chance to beat Brynn early in the second half, with the
O’s keeper tipping a Mason-Clark effort behind moments later.
Ethan Galbraith replaced George Moncur in the first change of the day for O’s just before the hour, with Randall seeing an effort ruled
out moments later.
Archibald made way for Rob Hunt and O’s had a let-off when Kioso’s cross almost found the top corner of the net but flew just over
midway through the half.
Irish striker Drinan made his first appearance of the season alongside Jordan Brown as they replaced Pigott and Pratley in a double
change on 74 minutes, with Galbraith firing a great chance over from Ruel Sotiriou’s header moments later.
And the recent arrivals combined on 80 minutes with Drinan doing well to square the ball into the box where Brown’s effort was
deflected away.
Graham beat his man but fired just too high as O’s continued to search for a winner, with Kyprianou shown a yellow card for the hosts.
El Mizouni was also booked as play became scrappy in the closing stages, with Cooper producing another vital block in the third
minute of stoppage time to deny the home side.
Brynn, James, Beckles, Cooper, Graham, Pratley (Brown 74), El Mizouni, Archibald (Hunt 63), Moncur (Galbraith 58), Pigott (Drinan
74), and Sotiriou are the Leyton Orient players.
