Fans in Colorado boo Deion Sanders for being out coached in his fourth consecutive loss.
The Colorado Buffaloes were defeated 34-31 at home by the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, their sixth loss in a row.
Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback, performed admirably, completing 22 of 35 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns in addition to rushing for 42 yards and another score. Travis Hunter is a two-way player who can catch five catches for 74 yards. He also contributes six solo tackles, one pass breakup, and six defensive stops.
However, Colorado was unable to stop Arizona wide receiver Tetaiora McMillan (9 catches, 107 yards, one touchdown) or running back Jonah Coleman (11 carries, 179 rushing yards).
The last three possessions by the Colorado offense ended in a scoreless play, and Arizona’s 10-point fourth-quarter run was finished by a 24-yard field goal by Tyler Loop with no time left.
After a 3-0 start and a No. 19 Associated Press poll ranking, Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes saw another difficult defeat in the end. The team had high expectations going into the season. Regretfully, the Buffaloes have not fared well in conference play; they are currently 1-6.
In order to qualify for bowl games, Colorado must now win both of its remaining games, which are away games against Utah and Washington State.
Despite CU’s challenging post-start run, the Buffaloes have won four times as many games as they did in the previous season, which finished 1-11 and came before Sanders’ transfer from Jackson State.
Fans, however, are now focusing their criticism on Sanders, whose coaching has come under scrutiny during a difficult stretch, particularly on Saturday when CU had a fantastic opportunity to return to.500.
