Michael Thomas is formally released by the New Orleans Saints.

WGNO, NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints have reportedly labeled wide receiver Michael Thomas as a post-June 1st cut, coinciding with the formal start of the NFL free agency period.

Thomas is reportedly being released with a failed physical designation, according to a number of sources.

Given that Thomas inked a one-year, $10 million restructured contract with the Saints in March 2023, the move is not surprising.

In the past three seasons, the offensive player of the year for 2019 has only participated in 13 games.

After an injury to his ankle during the 2020 season, he had a relapse and missed the entire 2021 season.

After suffering a toe injury in three games during the 2022 season, he was placed on injured reserve.

He played in ten games during their 9-8 season the previous year before suffering a knee injury in week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings that forced him back on injured reserve.

Thomas can join with any NFL team as he is currently a free agent.
