OFFICIAL NEWS : Alex Cora Boston red Sox players decided to…

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Vaughn Grissom has returned to baseball, but he won’t play for the Red Sox for at least the first few weeks of the regular season. Grissom (left groin strain) will start the season on the injured list and won’t return until “mid-April probably, late April,” manager Alex Cora said at JetBlue Park huh on Sunday. Grissom, who the Red Sox acquired from the Braves in the offseason in exchange for Chris Sale, was supposed to start second base on Opening Day. Enmanuel Valdez is the front-runner to take his place at second base, though Pablo Reyes is also a possibility.

This week, Ceddanne Rafaela, the center fielder vying for a place on Opening Day, will also get game experience at shortstop and second base.

Before Boston breaks camp on Sunday, Cora hinted that Grissom would get at-bats in minor league spring training games.
