Updated Eastern Conference Standings Heading Into The Campaign’s Second Half

On Thursday, the NBA All-Star Break comes to a close, and league play will return. The postseason push in the league will pick up speed after the All-Star Break.

To climb the standings, the Atlanta Hawks will have to fight their way up. Atlanta is now in 10th place, two games behind the Bulls (Chicago has the tiebreaker), six games behind the Magic in eighth place, six games behind Miami in seventh place, and 6.5 games behind Indiana in sixth place. There doesn’t seem to be much room for advancement for the Hawks. They play Miami, Orlando, and Indiana in their final three games, and they have already

Boston is the runaway favorite in the East and they have a six-game lead for the top seed. As long as they stay healthy and don’t get complacent, the Celtics should finish in 1st.

The battle for No. 2 is going to be one of the defining playoff races in the NBA. The Cavaliers currently occupy that spot due to their unbelievable play as of late, but they are only 2.5 games ahead of Milwaukee. The Bucks might be the most interesting team in the East during the second half of the season. They have the talent to win the title but have yet to play consistently.

Additionally, the Pacers want to hold onto their top-six ranking. They lead the Heat and the Magic by just a half-game.

The Nets are 2.5 games behind the Hawks for 10th place and recently sacked their head coach. They are Atlanta’s only genuine competition for the final play-in position.

Detroit, Toronto, Charlotte, and Washington comprise the Eastern Conference’s lowest four teams.
