Former Real Madrid manager responds to Rangers after Gers contact him
After Michael Beale was fired, Rangers are looking for a new manager, and Julen Lopetegui is now being discussed.
One of the top managers now in the game is Julen Lopetegui, and Rangers are apparently eager to have him join them at Ibrox.
The 57-year-old has previously led Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sevilla, and Real Madrid.
The former Porto manager also served as the head coach of Spain’s national football team.
Lopetegui was referred to as “a top coach” and “elite” by Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Jeff Shi, who made these comments in November 2022, according to a report on the Premier League team’s official website.
Rangers inquire, and Julen Lopetegui answers
TEAMtalk claims that Rangers are eager to replace Michael Beale at Ibrox with Lopetegui.
According to the report, the Spanish player has spoken with the former Scottish Premiership winners.
According to TEAMtalk, Lopetegui “rejected” the opportunity to lead Rangers because he was “keen to stay in a top league,” and that is why the former Real Madrid manager.
My Opinion: With Julen Lopetegui, Rangers are trying to do too much.
Rangers are being overly ambitious in my opinion by seeking to bring in Julen Lopetegui as their new manager.
Lopetegui is not at a position in his career where I believe he would be enticed to join Rangers.
The fact that Rangers is a significant club and is participating in the UEFA Europa League this year is obviously well known.
In the Scottish Premiership championship battle, the Gers still have a chance to overtake Celtic.
Lopetegui, though, will likely believe that he is capable of managing at a higher level.
The Spaniard was successful at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, after all.
Thus, Lopetegui may be given consideration if a position in the Premier League becomes available.
But I must commend the Rangers for making an effort to hire Lopetegui.
Rangers’ desire to hire a new manager demonstrates their high level of ambition.

He added: “I thought he was really lively, bringing that power and pace we know he’s got and causing problems for them, so I’m disappointed for him in that respect. It was a bit of a double-edged sword for him today in terms of getting his full debut and then that happening.
“He says he’s feeling a bit better after the game but until he’s assessed we’ll not really know the damage.”
