West Ham United make contact with Bournemouth for striker Dominic Solanke as Gianluca Scamacca deal agreed
West Ham United have made contact with Bournemouth about signing Dominic Solanke to replace Gianluca Scamacca, according to The Mirror.
Writing in their live transfer blog (5 August, 11:31) the newspaper report that the Hammers asked the Cherries bout the 24-yer-old
striker’s availability as they look to replace the outgoing Scamacca who is on his way to Atalanta for a medical.
But Bournemouth want to keep Solanke, meaning West Ham will have to look elsewhere if they want to add to their attacking options
this summer.
“West Ham have asked Bournemouth about Dominic Solanke as they look to replace Gianluca Scamacca,” they wrote.
“However, the Hammers look set to be disappointed with the Cherries keen to hang on to 24-year-old striker.”
Shame
It’s going to be very difficult at this stage of the transfer window to convince any teams to part ways with their first-choice striker,
nevermind a Premier League rival.
Solanke hit six Premier League goals last season as he helped the Cherries to survival against all the odds, and his skillset is similar to
that of Scamacca.
He’s tall, quick and a decent finisher with either foot but it’s his link up play and physical attributes that really stand out.
With Danny Ings struggling since his move and Michail Antonio’s future at t he club up in the air, the 24-year-old would be a sensible
option to come in as he covers the position for several years and knows the league well already too.
So it’s a shame that the club have stalled long enough for the deal to not really be an option at this stage, and we’l have to be more
creative with our targets.
