Philippe Clement responds to star Rangers return links
Philippe Clement refused to be drawn on speculation surrounding a possible return to Rangers for Ryan Kent.
The winger left Ibrox on a free transfer in the summer to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
However, despite signing a four-year deal, Kent has only played a bit-part role for his new club.
Of his 14 outings for Fenerbahce since his switch, Kent has started just seven.
As a result, speculation has grown over a departure for Kent on loan in January with Rangers among the clubs touted with an interest.
However, Clement insisted he would not discuss any transfer rumours and would only comment on players inside Ibrox.
The Rangers manager stated: “I can tell something really important for the next two months. I never go into rumours because it is no use to go into rumours.
“I will speak about players if they are in the building because I have been now more than 30 years in football.
“So many things can happen before a player is in the building or out the building.
“It is of no use to talk about rumours with me because I can only say things when they are realistic.
“And it is not about this case, I want to be clear about that, just in general for the next two months – for December and January.”
Philippe Clement has ducked questions regarding a potential Rangers return for winger Ryan Kent.
The Englishman, 27, departed Ibrox at the end of last season and would go on to sign for Turkish giants Fenerbahce. His playing time there, however, has been limited this campaign so far and that triggered speculation that Gers could move quickly in January to seal a loan deal for their former playmaker.
Clement, who met the media this afternoon ahead of the weekend’s Aberdeen clash, was in no mood to speculate or discuss transfer rumours and he quickly side-stepped the question and insisted that’s one element of his job he will not discuss in public.
“I can say something very important for the next few months I will never go in to rumours. It has no use to go in to rumours, I will only speak on players inside this building,” he said.
“I’ve been in football more than 30 years, so many things can happen before a player is in our out of a building. It’s of no use to talk about rumours with me.
“I can only say things when they are realistic, and it’s not about this case (Kent). I want to be clear about that. Just in general for the next two months for December and January.”
