Rangers ace must be tempted to leave Ibrox in January after manager's comments

Scotland boss Steve Clarke wants to see Robby McCrorie playing first-team football more regularly, with the Rangers goalkeeper stuck behind Jack Butland at Ibrox.
And, with Butland ahead of him in the pecking order, Rangers’ number two could be forgiven for feeling like Matthew McConaughey when he auditioned for the role in Titanic in the 1990s.
There’s no shame in losing against a talent like Leonardo di Caprio , but that doesn’t make things any less frustrating.

Robby McCrorie impressed when he featured under Mick Beale last season.
Since Butland’s excellent arrival at Ibrox, the 25-year-old has been forced to accept life on the sidelines.
Despite being almost always in the matchday squad, McCrorie is yet to make a single appearance in the 2023/24 season.
Robby McCrorie has a Rangers decision to make McCrorie was still included in Clarke’s Scotland squad for the November international.
Unlike, say, Borna Barisic with Croatia.
Break but it almost goes without saying that his hopes of nailing down a starting spot for Euro 2024 are not being helped by his continued thumb-twiddling at club level, with Clarke’s comments likely to pose plenty of food for thought ahead of the January window.
McCrorie would likely be, after all, the go-to number one for most clubs in Scotland, and a fair few south of the border too.
If he wants to escape Butland’s shadow, then there will be plenty of opportunities for him to do just that.
“It was very difficult for me to get involved because his club decides whether he plays every week or goes out on loan,” Clarke said via Glasgow World.
“But that was in conversation.
And I talked to Robby many times.
“I’ve always said he’s someone we keep an eye on going forward.
” But he has to compete.
Hopefully he starts to get a few more games.

Loan from Ibrox ‘would be a good thing’ “He’s a goalkeeper with good technique.
He has strong arms and strong legs.
Robby saved the ball, which is quite important for a goalkeeper.
What you don’t know about him and what he will need to show when he gets the chance to play is his ability to make decisions on the field.
“If he can play a few games with the Rangers that would be great.
If they decide to let him go on loan, that’s a good thing.
McCrorie faces competition from Hearts’ Zander Clarke and former Motherwell Rangers goalkeeper Liam Kelly for a starting place under Clarke.
