As training film becomes available, Southampton might have a ready-made Nathan Tella replacement.
Southampton have shared footage of Kamaldeen Sulemana impressing in training.
While getting back to full fitness, Kamaldeen Sulemana makes an impression in training, showing signs that he could eventually play a significant role for Southampton.
Despite transfer speculations, Southampton was able to keep Sulemana because they wouldn’t let him go for less than what he was worth.
Sulemana can take Nathan Tella’s place because of his speed and offensive potential. He is anticipated to play in Southampton’s upcoming match against Leicester City following the international break.
As he works his way back to full fitness for Russell Martin’s team, Kamaldeen Sulemana has been impressive for Southampton in practice.
It appears like Kamaldeen Sulemana will stay in Southampton.
The 21-year-old winger only recently joined the Saints in January, and although he was unable to maintain his team in the Premier League, Sulemana was frequently mentioned as a potential transfer target.
Although certain markets in Europe and throughout the world are still open, Southampton was able to hold onto the attacker past the deadline, and it appears he will remain in Martin’s lineup at least through January.
The Championship team refused to accept a discount for Sulemana since they paid more than £20 million to get him during the winter transfer window. Additionally, they weren’t under any rush to cash in because he still has years left on his deal.
Sulemana excels at training in Southampton
Sulemana has the inherent talent to succeed at his level, so the Saints manager’s task will be to get the most out of him in his tactical setup. Fans will hope the Ghanaian international can play a significant role going forward.
Sulemana also demonstrated some of his undeniable talent during training, with the club posting videos of the former Rennes player at his best on social media.
Sulemana used his speed to elude his opponent before launching a shot towards the distant corner.
To what extent will Southampton value Sulemana?
Obviously, this is just a practice, but it served as a timely reminder of Sulemana’s strengths as a forward and how quickly he may develop into a key member of Southampton’s team.
It was a major setback for Martin when the team traded Nathan Tella to Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window. Tella had had a strong start to the season and had already established himself as a player of this caliber by shining when Burnley won the league the previous season.
So, a replacement will be required, and because the club was unable to sign Patrick Roberts, they may not have that one attacking danger.
Sulemana, who is a like-for-like replacement for Tella in that he is extremely swift and presents a direct threat from behind, will return to the boss’s mind.
Sulemana has yet to feature in the current season due to injury concerns, but Martin will undoubtedly have him in mind for the match against Leicester City following the international break.
What will Southampton do next?
Martin has had a good start to life at Southampton, but the manager will be worried about how the 5-0 loss against Sunderland over the weekend was handled. The break, however, came just in time, giving Martin the opportunity to work with the majority of the team on a regular basis and allowing Sulemana and the newcomers to the team to reacquaint themselves with one another.
Therefore, he will be expecting a strong response from the team against the Foxes, but Martin will believe he still has enough talent to challenge for a top-two finish this year.
