Burnley continue to be linked with a move for Albert Sambi Lokonga, despite making other signings and starting the season without him.

In a new report on a TV broadcast this week, Sky Sports claimed Burnley are still pushing to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga before the end of the summer transfer window.

The chances of such a move have seemingly been growing increasingly unlikely as the window has gone on, with Burnley now into double figures for transfer incomings without agreeing anything with Arsenal.

Among their list of summer signings is Sander Berge, filling one of their midfield vacancies.

Burnley kicked off their Premier League campaign on Friday night without Lokonga, but they still have time to make a move if they so wish.

Sacha Tavolieri reported last week that a meeting had taken place at Burnley’s headquarters to sort out personal terms for Lokonga.

Tavolieri claimed that the deal was getting closer, with just the final details to agree.

Elsewhere, Chris Wheatley wrote that the loan move is edging closer, with the deal including an option to buy which will become an obligation if Lokonga reaches a certain number of games played.

Lokonga has reportedly already spoken to Burnley boss Vincent Kompany about the move, and he’s expected to play a key role for the side. Arsenal will not stand in his way, provided their terms are met.

The Athletic reported earlier last week that a move was on hold as the newly-promoted club looked to finalise other deals ahead of bringing in the Arsenal man.

But as it stands, there haven’t been any reports of further progress on a deal, just Sky Sports News claiming it’s not dead yet.

Lokonga returned to training with Arsenal last week after an injury absence during the early stages of pre-season, so he should be fit to make the move.
