Ron Rivera Declares Starting QB After Rams Loss

It has been a rough season for the Washington Commanders, with the storied franchise finding it difficult to compete, let alone win games on a regular basis during the 2023 campaign.

Although there have been many reasons why the Commanders aren’t a good football team this season, a losing season always leads to fingers pointing in the direction of the head coach and the starting quarterback, which in this case is Ron Rivera and Sam Howell.

Even though the Commanders only lost by eight points to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday in Week 15, Howell’s performance was put on the microscope after the game, as he struggled throughout the contest, which led to his benching in the fourth quarter in favor of veteran Jacoby Brissett.

Howell threw for only 102 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in three quarters, completing only 11 out of 26 passes, which obviously isn’t going to get the job done.

To make matters worse for Howell, Brissett came in and threw for more touchdowns (2) and more yards (124) while completing eight of 10 passes in one quarter as opposed to what the young quarterback could do in three quarters.

This led to reporters asking Rivera whether Howell’s time as the starter in Washington has come to an end after the game via JP Finaly of NBC4 Sports.
