Blues add to future selections in four-team trade

Carlton Football Club have received an extra future selection and swapped two more selections in next year’s national draft in a four-club swap deal involving the out-of-contract midfielder Paddy Dow..
As part of the deal, the Blues receive a future third-round pick from Essendon, a future fourth-round pick from Fremantle (acquired from St Kilda) and a future fourth-round pick from Fremantle (acquired from St Kilda).. future fourth from the Western Bulldogs, in exchange for Dow and a third of the Club’s futures.. and a fourth-round pick..
Dow has made 73 appearances for Navy in six seasons, including 10 appearances this year – five of which were as a substitute..
Carlton head of list management Nick Austin said Dow left IKON Park with the club’s best wishes, with the deal allowing the club to be added to him in 2024..
“We can’t fault Paddy’s professionalism throughout this year, his willingness to take on opportunities at senior level has been first class,” Austin said..
“We have had a very open dialogue with Paddy and his management throughout the year, and although we wanted to keep him, he wanted to play senior football every week, which which we respect..
“With Paddy out of contract, we are pleased to be able to arrange a transaction that will allow us to add to our future draft pool for next year.. We have clearly stated our aim to add depth through trades or drafts in the next phase of squad development, this deal contributes to that strategy..
