‘Be prepared to be brave’ – Leyton Orient assistant sends message ahead of Bristol Rovers test

Leyton Orient assistant head coach Paul Terry spoke to club media ahead of Tuesday’s game against Bristol Rovers

Leyton Orient assistant head coach Paul Terry has called for his players to “be prepared to be brave” when they travel down to Bristol

Rovers tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.

Whether it’s now too far into the season to call the east London outfit ‘newly promoted’ having been back playing in the third tier for

almost four months is up for debate but regardless, the Gas will be seeing it as a game they should be winning with relative comfort.

Andy Mangan’s side were unlucky not to take a result from Derby County on the weekend after the Rams cancelled out Chris Martin’s

late equaliser with an even later winner and will be looking for a result against a side winless in six league matches.

However, the O’s’ performance in Saturday’s 1-1 home draw against Wigan Athletic pleased head coach Richie Wellens, who stated as

such post-match, as well as assistant head coach Terry who was interviewed by club media on Monday and looked ahead to the Bristol

Rovers test.

“Mangs has done well since he took over from Joey,” Terry admitted. “He’s gotten a little bit of response from the players and they’ve

gone and got a few results. They’re a good team. I seem to say it a lot but a really solid League One team with some really good players

in it that can be a threat to us.

“It’s about how we dictate and impose ourselves on the game so same sort of intent as Saturday, the same willingness to run forward,

willingness to play forward and be prepared to be brave, not just through our passing but with individuals stepping in and not being

afraid to mark people.”

Caretaker manager Mangan will be in the dugout for a seventh game since Joey Barton was sacked a month ago but it is still unclear

how much of an impact the result will have on the board’s decision to appoint a permanent manager.
