ROVERS FIXTURE POSTPONED DUE TO INTERNATIONAL CALL-UPS

Reading’s fixture at home to Bristol Rovers has been postponed due to call-ups for international duty over that weekend.

International selections for three or more players for the international break in selection offers clubs the option to postpone their matches during the period, as per League One rules.

As a result of the club opting the exercise this option, the Pirates’ visit to the Select Car Leasing Stadium will be postponed from Saturday 9 September to a new date, which will be arranged and announced in due course, along with any relevant ticketing information.

That means we’ll have to wait a little longer before welcoming Rovers back to RG2 for the first time since 2001… on their last visit, it was Jamie Cureton who netted the game’s only goal for the Royals, to defeat the club he’d signed from the summer before!

Nations are in the process of informing clubs and players of their selections for the forthcoming September break; we will soon release full details of which Royals have been selected and what’s at stake over the break, once countries begin to announce their squads.

Reading FC transfer stance emerges on Chelsea’s Tino Anjorin

The Blues’ man remains on the radar of the League One side at this point.

Tino Anjorin - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

  •  Reading remain interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Tino Anjorin.
  •  A loan deal seems more likely than a permanent agreement considering the restrictions that the Berkshire side are under.
  •  Portsmouth are also interested in signing Anjori

The Berkshire outfit will be looking to put the finishing touches on their squad during the latter stages of the transfer window, with 10

signings already coming in at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Considering the restrictions they have been operating under for much of the summer, they have done exceptionally well to bring that

number of players in.

However, the Berkshire side saw several players leave the club earlier this summer and with this in mind, they are still in need of some

more additions between now and the deadline on September 1st.

Which areas do Reading need to strengthen before the summer window closes?

The left-back department should be looked at, even though Matty Carson has stepped up to the plate well.

Nesta Guinness-Walker is available as another option in that area and John Clarke will be back sooner rather than later, but the latter

will need time to get back into football after suffering a horrific injury last year and the former has been linked with a move to the Championship.

A striker or two will also be required. Although Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and Caylan Vickers have performed well, they don’t have too

much depth in this department and that has been reinforced by Sam Smith’s absence.
