The details remain to be known about DeRozan’s sudden inactivity for the Bulls to attend an urgent event. As such, all can only hope the situation is fine for him and his family.

Replacement starter for Deebo

The one-game absence of DeRozan may allow head coach Billy Donovan to tap Torrey Craig once again as a temporary starter against the Magic. As Alex Caruso remains uncertain to play due to his toe injury, that leaves Craig as a likely second unit to be inserted in the Bulls’ first-five lineup against Orlando.

Craig, who is averaging 4.8 points and 5.7 boards in 11 games (6 starts) so far for the Bulls, has the length and versatility that can help cover the Bulls’ perimeter and be slated against the size of the promising Magic frontcourt that boasts Franz Wagner, Paolo Banchero, and Wendell Carter Jr.

The 32-year-old veteran was solid in the Bulls’ 118-109 losing effort against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday after contributing eight markers and 12 boards in 22 minutes of play.
