A personal treasure trove of items belonging to footy legend Nathan Buckley have gone on auction, with the Collingwood great fetching close to $200,000 from his prized possessions.

The former Pies captain and coach put around 200 items on sale after being forced to do as part of his divorce settlement from wife of 18 years, Tania Minnici.

Among the items on offer included the champion midfielder’s grand final jersey from his best-on-ground effort in Collingwood’s defeat by Brisbane in 2002.

Over 750 fans registered their interest in making Buckley’s items their own, with some even booking time off work to attend the auction, and Collingwood also purchased some of the possessions for their own museum.

Seven reports that the total collection, which included boots, shorts and socks from his time at the Pies and Brisbane Bears, sold for $192,000.
