SAD NEWS: North Melbourne Star Forced To Leave The Club After….

Great bids farewell in record win; Dees let it slip again; retiree’s shock health fight – AFLW Wrap

The Adelaide Crows are AFLW minor premiers after Brisbane got grand final revenge over Melbourne on Saturday night.

After the Crows got the job done over West Coast in 36C conditions in Perth with a 26-point win, the side then had to wait on the final result of the day to see whether they’d done enough to seal top spot.

And for the fourth straight season, the Demons let the minor premiership slip as they failed to fire a shot against Brisbane after half time as the Lions ran out 25-point winners.

Brisbane were out of the blocks in a hurry with a whopping 19 inside 50s to just two in a stunning opening term.

But they failed to put Melbourne away, and it counted against them in the second term.

Star Tayla Harris gave the Dees a scare early in the second as she clutched at her troublesome shoulder in her first game back from injury, but managed to continue to provide a contest in attack.

Only a late Dakota Davidson goal kept the Lions with the lead at half time. But from there, the match was played solely on Brisbane’s terms as they sealed a double finals chance with their win.

Melbourne finished goalless after half time in worrying signs heading into their finals campaign from second on the ladder.

The result means Brisbane will now head to Adelaide for the first qualifying final, while Melbourne will host North Melbourne in the second AFLW qualifier.

AFLW’S GREATEST BOWS OUT IN RECORD-BREAKING SCENES

It was fitting that the glittering career of Erin Phillips ended at Alberton Oval, as the Power farewelled the AFLW legend in fine style with a record-breaking 58-point win at the club’s spiritual home on Saturday.

The AFLW’s greatest bowed out as Port kicked its highest-ever score in the league in a dominant display against the Giants in Pride Round.

But the largest roar of the day came when Phillips marked strongly and sent through the 53rd goal of her career late in the final term, with the superstar mobbed by every teammate on the ground.
