Storm’s Ascent From the Ashes is Completed by Storm Neka Ogwumike
Nneka Ogwumike, the 2016 WNBA MVP, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Seattle Storm.

The eight-time All-Star will be paired with center Ezi Magbegor, who made her first All-Star Game in 2023, sharpshooter Jewell Loyd (last season’s scoring queen), and ace point guard Skylar Diggins-Smith (who is also new to the 206).
Storm General Manager Talisa Rhea said in a statement, “Nneka is one of the most impactful players in our league’s history, not only for her achievements on the court but also as an agent of positive change across the WNBA.” “I’m sure our community and Seattle are as excited about Nneka joining the Storm as we are.”

Ogwumike, who had only played for the Los Angeles Sparks since being selected first overall in the 2012 WNBA Draft, announced her departure from the team on January 24. She was the only player left on the Los Angeles team that made it to the Finals back-to-back in 2016 and 2017, taking home a ring in the former year.
