Former Packers coach was sacked as a result of, and coordinators who had tremendous success in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers as the team’s quarterback continue to find out that life elsewhere without the Hall of Famer isn’t so easy.

That was Luke Getsy’s reality over the last two years. And Nathaniel Hackett has lived it as well.

Both have been fired from jobs after being hot commodities during their time with the Packers.

Getsy was given the ax Wednesday after just two years as the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator, with the franchise again in flux and their quarterback position uncertain.

Hackett, meanwhile, didn’t even last one season as the Denver Broncos head coach in 2022. Hackett was the Packers’ offense coordinator from 2019-21 and Green Bay had the top-ranked scoring offense in 2020.

In Denver, under Hackett, the Broncos had the league’s worst scoring offense. But when Hackett teamed back with Rodgers as the New York Jets’ offensive coordinator this past season, expectations were sky-high for the duo to replicate what they did in Green Bay.

Matt Eberflus was hired as head coach following the 2021 season and brought in Getsy to take quarterback Justin Fields to the next level following his rookie season. That didn’t happen.

The Bears went 3-14 and 7-10 over the last two years and the offense finished in the bottom half of scoring both years.

And Fields, who was the 11th overall pick in the 2021 draft, may be done in Chicago as well. In the last two years, he has 33 touchdown passes and 20 interceptions in 28 games,

though his running ability made him an explosive dual-threat option. While he’s still just 24 years old, his future is cloudy in the Windy City.

Getsy arrived in Chicago after three years as quarterbacks coach with the Packers. In total, he was with the Packers organization for seven seasons, six of which were playoff teams. Rodgers won his third and fourth MVP awards with Getsy as the QB coach.

In Chicago, however, Getsy couldn’t elevate the Bears’ offense.

The Bears’ top wide receiver, DJ Moore, certainly didn’t give his coordinator a ringing endorsement after Chicago’s season ended Sunday with a loss to the Packers.

I think he’s fine. It just comes down to us being explosive on the offensive side. We got the players to do it. We got our quarterback to do it. Everything else,

we just need to call the plays that put us in position to have explosives down the field or catch-and-runs …. We just got to be an explosive team and not a team that’s behind the sticks.
